What’s the difference between a bridal shower and a wedding shower?

The key distinction between a bridal shower and a wedding shower is that a bridal shower is often an all-female affair in which the bride’s relatives and friends shower her with presents.

The bride and groom (or both partners) are usually present during a wedding shower, along with a mix of their family and friends (male and female). A wedding shower is preferred by many same-sex couples over a bridal or groom shower.

Is Bridal Shower the same as Bachelorette?

No, a Bridal shower and Bachelorette are two completely different things well you can invite friends to your bridal shower but it is a more intimate celebration with close relatives and family to shower the bride to be with gifts.

While bachelorette is more a fun party night with close friends to have a weekend or vacation together before the wedding to celebrate the bride’s previous life. You can have both of these events on the same day as well like a bridal shower in the afternoon and a bachelorette in the evening so you don’t have to make different trips.

Who pays for the shower?

The wedding shower is usually paid for by one or more of the following people:  The maid of honor, sometimes known as the matron of honor, is a woman who serves as a representative of then the bridesmaids usually the bride’s sisters or her close relatives or cousins than a best friend of the bride or mother of the bride.

If you have a wedding shower then it goes to the groom’s mother as well. Typically, everyone pays for their own expenses, and then the bridal party splits the bride’s bachelorette party expenses evenly.

Who throws a Bridal Shower?

A mostly bridal shower is thrown by the maid of honor and another bridesmaid helps her. But if the bridal shower is for someone really close then a family friend or other relatives can throw a bridal shower. A group of friends can throw a wedding shower together.

Whom to invite to the Bridal/ Wedding shower?

It is a wedding shower then couple’s parents. And for the bridal shower, you can invite her family members like her cousin, family friends and maid of honor, and bridesmaid.

Do you need to buy gifts at a bridal shower?

Well, if you are throwing a bridal shower on your own then it is an expensive business but if you want to buy a gift for the bride-to-be then you can. But it is almost important to buy a gift for a bride for her new beginnings.

You can actually give her gifts that she can use on a day-to-day basis. And if it’s a wedding shower that does not typically mean you should buy a gift as you will also be buying a wedding gift. The decision is up to you.

Now that I have answered major questions let’s get to planning

1 Venue

The most important thing to consider is the venue. Venue needs to be the size as per your guest list if is a small and intimate shower you plan it inside your house or in someone’s house which is big enough and is ready to throw the shower.

You must host your event at the place where it fits your budget. If you decide to host the party at another location, make sure to do a booking and visit that place and check if that place fits your taste or bride or couple’s taste. You can also find the venue’s on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. Do pick a date early.

2 Theme

It is really important to decide the theme so you can make the needed arrangements. There are many theme ideas you can choose from. And it will solve the major question of how to design the interior color combinations and food settings.

Sticking to a theme will make your planning a lot easier. Making DIY wedding shower décor is another simple approach to finding out how to organize a bridal shower on a budget.

3 Expenses

If you are able to throw a shower on your own then it’s great but an easier way to save money is to split your expenses. You can easily ask for money from the o brides’ maid and close relatives and even the bride’s parents as well.

Either assign specific duties, such as making invitations and organizing party games or simply request monetary donations. The mother of the bride and mother of the groom, as well as any other close relatives or family acquaintances, are likely to be more than happy to assist you only need to ask them and be willing to work with them.

4 Timing

Choosing the right timing is crucial. If you choose to throw a shower at the afternoon then you have to make arrangements for their meals. And you have to host that shower indoors.

But if you choose to time between lunch and dinner then you can serve light snacks and not the heavy entire meal. This will help you to save money.

5 Guest List

Consider taking people off the guest list if you have a list full of acquaintances rather than actual friends. And always let folks know that physical space was limited, or that the bride wanted to keep it to close friends only, to avoid any bitter feelings.

You can also seek folks who will be at another shower, such as the bride’s coworkers. She doesn’t need her entire department at this event if they’re already throwing her a working shower. Or you can throw a shower together with a bigger venue to save time and money.

6 Invitations

Make sure you make an invitation list and ask the bride whom to invite and send invitations accordingly. There are many ways you can send invites if you can and it’s okay then your send digital invites or you can send normal traditional invites.

7 Food

If you’re planning on serving light refreshments and nibbles at the shower, stock up on sandwiches, veggie trays, chips and dips, sodas and water, and wine and beer (if you’re offering it).

Use internet retailers like Amazon to compare prices and make sure you’re getting the greatest bargain. Look for bite-sized dishes like mini quiche or sweet sweets like macarons in the frozen food sections.

8 Drinks

Some brides believe that a glass of champagne is a must-have for a fantastic shower, while others refuse to drink at all. Know your bride and make your plans accordingly. Instead of providing various drinks, consider serving the bride’s favorite beverage as a signature drink.

If she prefers mint iced tea or lavender lemonade, this doesn’t have to be alcoholic. Just make sure there are non-alcoholic alternatives, which might be as easy as iced tea or flavored water.

Décor In Bridal Shower

9 Party Favors

You don’t have to have favors at your shower if you don’t want to. Many folks either don’t give favors at all or just give them to their offspring. Furthermore, many people will decline to take a favored home if they are offered one.

And, you can create something like steal the flowers in which after the event guests can pick which flowers, they want from the décor and take them to their house. Also, you can create mini pots with flowers and succulents use them to decorate around the shower and encourage guests to grab their favorite one on the go.

10 Games

It is important to entertain guests with games or other activities. You don’t have to give them expensive gifts but to keep them engaged in something so don’t get bored. Create something that guests can take home with them, such as a DIY hand scrub station with empty jars where guests may package their own scrub to take home.

Some things you must also take into consideration

Do have a guest list – You should make sure that the venue is big enough to fit all the people you have invited.

Do ask brides/couples’ input – They might have something specific ideas or themes so you must take that into consideration.

Do plan plenty/of food – You must always order more food. You can store leftover food or give them to someone in need but if you don’t have enough food, it is bad for everyone and all your hard work will be in vain.

Don’t try to do it all on your own – DO ask your friends and family to help when in need. And if needed ask the bride as well she will be happy to help and guide you.

Do plan before a few days – It is important to plan a shower a month or 2 weeks before the wedding so the bride has enough time on her hands.

Invites – Even if you have sent digital invites but some people are not familiar with internet stuff so for old people like grandmas and aunty you have to consider which type of invites will be appropriate.

Invitation – Don’t invite people who are not invited to weddings and for that, you must ask the bride or the couple to check the guest list. If they don’t want to invite someone then don’t invite them.

Embarrassing – Make sure they aren’t too vulgar. The bride’s older relatives will almost certainly be present, and you don’t want to insult or disgrace anyone.

Planning menu – Take into consideration of allergies as well.

Don’t invite too many guests – Handling too many people is a huge responsibility. People who are close are understanding and will help you but some people are not great in public places and be a bad influence at your party.

Cloths – If you have decided on a theme for the shower let your guest know what kind of theme it is or add a small note on an invitation about it whether it is formal or informal.
