Kids love anything outdoors and Camping is the best time to spend more time with your family outdoors. It is a great way to enjoy nature and spend time exploring new places. Getting away from the busy life of a city is important for a family and to get some fresh air in nature even a small weekend gateway can be really good. So even if you go outside, you must know how to make that time more fun and memorable. So, you can have games which can be enjoyed by everyone. These games are kid-friendly but also fun for adults if you need activity ideas for a camping-themed party or a way to entertain your kids while camping.
When camping, nothing beats sitting around a campfire under the sky. And looking at nature’s beauty which we never really get to experience in the city will also help kids to learn more things about nature and the night sky. Camping with kids can be tricky as they are filled with energy and need to be engaged properly otherwise, they will easily get bored and will make your camping experience worst. It’s usually a good idea to have some games ready to play when going camping with kids. You can spend the day biking, hiking, swimming, or simply lounging in a chair in the breeze.
1 Outdoor Board Game
This board game can be easily created or if you don’t have enough time, you can always buy one. Make a large board game to play outside for hours of camp entertainment. You can create a simple game like tic-tac-toe. You can create this simply by using things lying around like sticks. Rocks. Pine cones or anything you find around your campsite.
2 Go for a Walk
You can go for a walk-in nature. You can do this activity early morning or in the evening. If you are comfortable, you can always go for a night walk you only need a flashlight, headlamps, and good knowledge of the area you are exploring so you don’t get lost. You can have even more fun by turning off the flashlight, allowing your eyes to adjust, and being amazed at what you can see. Walking can be a great activity to explore different plant species and get to know about the wildlife around you.
3 Create a Camp Map
This can be fun to do and be great to introduce your kids to Directions and how to use them. Create a map with trails and have major locations marked on it which are specific. You can create a secret treasure map. This will be a fun project to do with your kids. You can also create a time capsule where you put important things you always loved and hide them in the woods. You can create a map around that time capsule and can be a really fun mission for you on your next camp visit.
4 Camp food
Everyone loves and enjoys food no matter where they are and there is always something different about camp food. Prepare food in nature with limited supplies but it’s a fun activity you can do with your kids. Teaching kid how to prepare food is good for their future. You can create sandwiches together this is the easiest to prepare.
5 Tell stories
Every kid enjoys a good story time. And with life experience, you may have so many stories you can share with your kids. Take turns telling stories and humorous jokes around the campfire as you relax and enjoy the warmth. You can also look for stories online about inventors and different science inventions which are entertaining and good for kids’ brains to explore more in science. Sharing experiences about life with kids is a great way to get close to your kid and know what they think about.
6 Campfire
Camping and campfires are always meant to be together. And is an experience you could never enjoy in a city. Sitting around a campfire is a staple for a camping trip. You can teach your kids how to build a fire and how to maintain it. You can sit around the campfire and tell stories to your kids. Campfire brings people together and is the best experience for a kid to have.
7 Stargaze
Stargazing is the most amazing experience you can have while camping. And if you are taking your kid for the first time it will be the most memorable experience they will have. If you prepare beforehand, you can teach them about stars, planets, and constellations. You can also have a game about space facts. If you are really into it, you can bring your telescope with you and can have a much better close experience of stargazing.
8 Camping Charades
Charades are really fun to play if you have a little older kid then it is a really easy and fun way to entertain your kids.
9 Scavenger Hunt
Make nature walk even more interesting by doing a scavenger hunt. You can walk around near your campsite or if you want you can go a little further. You need to create a list of items beforehand like a pinecone, a snail, and a feather and as you walk along you can check them off. The collected item can be great as a keepsake or if you are going to create a time capsule you can put those things into them.
